Review: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, $59

Where to buy in Australia: Mecca

I have always wanted to try this foundation as SOO many people have said it is their holy grail product in there makeup collection, a Mecca Maxima store opened up in my area (finally!) and I thought it was the perfect time to pick up this foundation and give it my review.....so here we go!

SUMMARY

  • Lightweight on the skin
  • No SPF (which is great for flash photography)
  • Fragrance free
  • Suits normal to dry skin
  • Medium to full coverage
  • Satin finish

ABOUT

The Nars Sheer Glow Foundation has a thin liquid texture and is extremely lightweight on the skin. It is available in 20 shades and has no SPF in the formulation. This foundation has a simple glass bottle & comes without a pump (unfortunately) but! I picked up a Nars pump which fits perfectly for around $4.

TEXTURE, FINISH, COVERAGE AND APPLICATION

The Nars Sheer Glow foundation has a very lightweight, silky natural looking finish and does not look 'cake' at all. I found that it did make my skin look brighter and in natural light had a really nice glow to the skin. I do set it with a small amount of powder and this foundation does not dry out my skin at all.

Nars Sheer Glow has a medium coverage but can easily be built up to a full coverage which is what I love to wear. After one layer of this foundation it evened out my skin tone, added a nice healthy glow to my skin and you could still see your natural skin peeking through. After a second layer the foundation still looks natural and healthy but added a bit more coverage creating a flawless natural look. Some of my freckles are still visible after a second layer of foundation which I don't mind. This foundation has a great coverage which covers all of my imperfections and uneven skin tone without looking cakey or feeling heavy on the skin. I was so amazed at how lightweight this foundation is especially compared to the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (which is my holy grail foundation).

To apply this foundation I use my beauty blender. The beauty blender works amazing with this foundation as it creates an airbrush look and evenly distributes the foundation. A buffing brush would also work well with this foundation.

There is no SPF in this foundations formula which is great for flash photography and means you won't get flash back when taking photographs with a flash. This foundation would be perfect for special occasions or events where you know you will be having your photo taken. I would recommend wearing an SPF sunscreen or moisturiser with this foundation if you are not planning on having your picture taken or if you are going to be out in the sun on a daily basis to protect your skin.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I am really impressed with this foundation and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a lightweight foundation. I have been using it as my everyday foundation for the past couple of weeks and I love it! It is perfect for days where I want a more natural look or I can build it up to have a full coverage if I'm heading out to dinner and it still feels lightweight on the skin as you build it up which is great!

This foundation is not as long wearing as my Estee Lauder double wear foundation but for an everyday use it is perfect. The best features about this foundation are the weightless feel of the foundation and the fact that it does not have SPF which makes this foundation perfect for special events.

I would recommend this foundation to anyone who is looking for a natural yet buildable foundation for everyday wear and for anyone who has normal to dry skin.

I definitely think it is worth the price!
